Maybe Not Bob's was started in the spring of 1993 by two friends with very different backgrounds and ideas. The name arose due to an inability to agree on their two favoured names "Maybe's Bar & Grill" and "Bob's Bar & Grill". In the end, a compromise seemed to be the only way out and hence the two names became as one and both the friends were happy (for a while) with "Maybe Not Bob's" becoming the unusual yet servicable appellation.

Originally designed to be more bar than restaurant, it quickly surprised its Anglo/American owners by surpassing all expectations on food sales. Very quickly an additional kitchen was added to provide the staff with the practical space needed for the demand.

Since those early days little has changed structurally in the restaurant, even though a fire forced them to close for a week or so in 1994. The décor remains similar apart from the replacement of the American memorabilia with original art work. All paintings now found in the restaurant are painted specifically for the premises. This change of décor also represents the parting of the original owners leaving bob's an English-run establishment.

Another point worthy of note is that during these past 13 years we have only had two head cooks, possibly a good reason for the consistency and continuity that has been maintained. in the past we have made some wonderful friends and served a lot of jolly decent people. This we hope, will long continue.
